Cambridge Tops MA List as #1 for Clinton, Also High on Marijuana

As with Obama in 2012, Cambridge tops the local list with the greatest percentage margin for the Democratic candidate in 2016 with 89.2% voting for Hillary Clinton vs Donald Trump. That’s even more than the 86.1% of Cambridge voters who voted for President Obama in 2012. But Cambridge came in second in a summary of local election results by Jonathan Slater, President of Newton, MA-based Castles Luxury Properties, when it came ballot Question #4 on legalizing marijuana where Somerville captured the top spot with 75.5% compared with 71.3% for Cambridge. Newton Condo & Townhouse Prices Jump 17.3% in Past 3 Months * 59% Gain in Unit Sales Above $750,000 Drive Market

The average selling price for condos and townhouses in Newton, MA increased 17.3% for the most recent three months August-October 2016 versus the same period last year, from $640,376 to $763,988. This jump was driven in large part by a 59% gain in the number of units sold over $750,000, from 23 to 47 properties for the most recent three months in 2015 versus 2016. The data for average selling prices per square foot -- generally more indicative of price trends for condos and townhouses by factoring in the size of units sold – was more muted, but still showed an average increase of 5.8%, from $394 per square foot to $417 per square foot....Read More

Brookline Luxury Condo Market Prices Drop in September and October: Volume Up, Prices Down for $1+ Million Condos and Townhouses Average selling prices for luxury condos and townhouses in Brookline over $1 million declined 4.6% for the combined months of September and October 2016 versus the same period last year.
